About Our Firm
Colorado Estate Planning Law Firm
Our firm was built on core values that reflect our passions, business goals, and the vibrant Coloradan way of life. We strive to align every part of our personal lives and our firm’s practice with these beliefs.
Our core values
Thank you for taking an interest in our firm. My name is Alexis Austin, and I am the founder of Right Law Group. I wanted to take the time to personally write this message to you because I am not a typical estate planning attorney. I did not want a standard third person lawyer resume as a biography page. I want you to be able to read this and get a sense of who I am and how our firm operates.
The truth is, the majority of estate planning lawyers are pretty similar. All of them want to teach you about the options you have in planning your estate, and almost every estate planning lawyer will tell you that they want to help you protect your family and your legacy – and we are no different in that regard. However, what truly determines which firm you choose as your partner in this journey is the relationship you can build with your lawyer. That is why I designed this firm to be different.
We use the latest technology to make your experience as smooth and efficient as possible. We are also members of WealthCounselTM which allows us to provide clients with the most cutting edge and up-to-date techniques for designing your plan. We offer price packages based on different levels of planning rather than using the old-fashioned hourly billing system so that you have complete control over your plan and experience. Finally, we remain very accessible via phone, text, email, and social media messaging so that you can always feel connected. My goal is to not only help you plan your estate, but to get to know you on a personal level. Ultimately, I would like to be your go to lawyer and build a long-lasting relationship. To that end, let me tell you a little about who I am and why I practice in this area of law.
I was raised on bluegrass music, sweet tea, tent revivals, and barbeques in small country town called Barren Plains which is about an hour north of Nashville, TN. I had a large and loving family growing up, and I was lucky to be one of those true Southern girls who lived across the street from cows. When I was around 11 years old, I went to a friend’s birthday party and saw her mom’s library of books in the house. I found out her mom was a lawyer, so that was the day I decided I wanted to be a lawyer too. My reasons and goals have changed since then of course, but I still have that dream of owning my own library collection someday.
I moved to Colorado in 2010 to attend the University of Denver Sturm College of Law after receiving majors in both Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Memphis. I was drawn to Colorado by the 300 days of sunshine a year and the abundance of outdoor adventures available to us in this state. I love hiking and camping in the summer, and while I am no where near as good as my friends, I enjoy skiing (and falling down the mountain) in the winter months. I entered the practice of law because I wanted to have a profession where I could truly help people.
I became a Deputy District Attorney after graduating law school and practiced in a few different counties in Colorado over the years before leaving government work to become a private defense attorney. My passion has always been to help and guide people in difficult situations, so moving from government to private work where I got to know clients personally was incredibly rewarding. I opened the estate planning side of my practice because I wanted to focus more on building relationships and helping families grow and prosper before they reached a difficult spot in their lives.
Having personally experienced what not having an estate plan did to the surviving members of my family when my grandparents and other relatives passed away, and then hearing about all of the experiences my clients have had over the years, I now focus on working with single people and young families to help them create a life plan that protects them from the very beginning. I am a firm believer in planning. You can ask anyone close to me, and they will tell you that I plan everything from my work week down to what I will have for breakfast in the morning. I believe having a solid foundation helps you live a more full and enjoyable life.
I use the hiking analogy a lot, but it really works for estate planning. If you were to take off hiking up a mountain in flip flops without any kind of plan in place, you could potentially wind up in quite a rough spot! I prefer to always have my hiking boots, backpack with essential emergency supplies and snacks, and at least some idea of what the route up will be before embarking on a climb. Life is not any different. So many people take off down a road in life without having any idea where they are going or what their plan is if something goes wrong. I try to act as a guide for my clients and help them be more prepared for their journey in life. We stock you up with all the estate planning emergency gear you could possibly need, and we help you plan for the road ahead.
So, if you are looking for someone to help you design your path in life, or if you need a lawyer on call to help you make adjustments along the way, we are here for you. I am also always open to new hiking trail suggestions!
Thank you again for taking the time to learn a little about me and our firm. If you have any questions about how or what we do, or if you just want to connect, please call, text, email, or find us on social media!
